Turmoil broke out all over the world when Aziraal, the god of destruction, ignoring the eternal pact made between the gods, decided to go his own, power-hungry way. He united the Orc hordes and attacked the civilized world. The Orc hordes swiftly overran the lands north of the Gon and the territory around Oswaroh. The gods of Antaloor had never appeared to lesser mortals throughout the entire history of the world, preferring to remain in the divine background, so to speak, and mutely accepting the worship of all of those who dwelled in Antaloor... but now the time had come to teach one of their own a hard lesson so they had to show themselves. With the Dwarves, Elves and Humans and even Serpents[n 1] united against them, Aziraal and the Orcs were defeated in the Great War of the Gods. The Orcs were pushed back to their territory around Gor Gammar. The Immortal one, however, could only be neutralized by banishment. With the help of the Keepers, a secret organization, the gods entombed Aziraal in a shrine. The only secure location for the fallen god was the heavens over Antaloor. Any other place would have been unthinkable. This would prove to be a fateful conception indeed to create a place of worship for Aziraal, a site which from now on would draw all the world's evil powers to it like a magnet. And these powers would not be able to resist attempting to free Aziraal. It was bad enough that the Pantheon would forever be weakened by the absence of one of its gods (or at least that was the general opinion at that time), but that the rebel god had to be given a tomb on high? Madness, they said....[1]

The Death of Aziraal, the God of the Orcs put an end to the advance of his hoards through Antaloor. Crushed by their defeat, the invaders fled south to mourn their leader. The victors refused to surrender Aziraal's corpse to the orcs, quickly sealing it for eternity in a magical casket. With the death of Aziraal, the continent became infested with the Taint and there came a strange new magic to the land.[2] 295 years later[3], in the year 340[4] a prophet began uniting the hoards of orcs under their common belief in his prophecy's. 5 years have passed and his identity yet remains unknown to the people of Antaloor.

300 years later and Antaloor still hasn't recovered from the events of the war. The hero, a young bounty hunter, travels throughout Antaloor searching for his twin sister, Kira who had disappeared months before, under circumstances that can only be described as mysterious.[2][3][n 2] After many weary months of searching, he finally gets his first clue – a mysterious letter leads him to the mountainous region of the far north. As luck would have it, he has also heard of a possible job in the village of Komorin in Thalmont – and that’s on his route…

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Reality Pump Studios website claims the Great War tool place nearly 10 centuries ago, which implies that the timeline of events must have been drastically changed at some point.[5]
  • The Two Worlds Manual also claims that the war took place nearly 1,000 years ago.[1]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. The Serpents were fighting the Orcs, but weren't officially allied with any of the other races.
