Lore:Great War of the Gods/Two Worlds Manual
The story until now... Antaloor still has not fully recovered from the events of 300 years ago. Turmoil broke out all over the world when Aziraal, the god of destruction, ignoring the eternal pact made between the gods, decided to go his own, power-hungry way. He united the Orc hordes and attacked the civilized world. The Orc hordes swiftly overran the lands north of the Gon and the territory around Oswaroh. The gods of Antaloor had never appeared to lesser mortals throughout the entire history of the world, preferring to remain in the divine background, so to speak, and mutely accepting the worship of all of those who dwelled in Antaloor... but now the time had come to teach one of their own a hard lesson so they had to show themselves. With the Dwarves, Elves and Humans united against them, Aziraal and the Orcs were defeated in the Great War of the Gods. The Orcs were pushed back to their territory around Gor Gammar. The Immortal one, however, could only be neutralized by banishment. With the help of the Keepers, a secret organization, the gods entombed Aziraal in a shrine. The only secure location for the fallen god was the heavens over Antaloor. Any other place would have been unthinkable. This would prove to be a fateful conception indeed to create a place of worship for Aziraal, a site which from now on would draw all the world's evil powers to it like a magnet. And these powers would not be able to resist attempting to free Aziraal. It was bad enough that the Pantheon would forever be weakened by the absence of one of its gods (or at least that was the general opinion at that time), but that the rebel god had to be given a tomb on high? Madness, they said....[1]
