Walkthrough
There are two ways to approach this...
Smuggler's Path
If you gave Dagwa food, talk to her again and the quest will update. If you declined to give her food when she first talks to you, this option won't be available to you.
Alternatively, if you give Flora the Scribe's Inkwell during the Scribe's Inkwell quest, she will give you directions to the smuggler's path.
Either way, your quest log will update:
Once you go to the red "X" on the map just north of Bayan and behind the graveyard, the quest will update again:
On the smuggler's path, there are four Varns (one is a mage), two Cheetahs, and two Warthogs. There are also two locked chests, one in each of the Varn camps. Once you reach the second red "X" the quest is completed.
Writ of Protection
Talk to Lewsam the Gravedigger and accept his Lost head quest. Next, talk to Thome the Scribe in Bayan to get the Scribe's Inkwell quest. Return the inkwell to Thome, as opposed to Flora (see above), and he will forge a Writ of Protection for you. Once you show Odval the Writ of Protection, this quest will be marked complete.
Notes
- It is possible to unlock the smuggler's path and get a Writ of Protection by talking to Dagwa before presenting the Writ to Odval. If you do this, this quest won't be completed until you travel through the smuggler's path (presenting the Writ has no effect on the quest log).
