Template:Location Gate of Finglor is a transdimensional magical gate built by Finglor inside the Royal Palace in Shadinar (more specifically, in the Tower of Baramir). It's initial purpose was to reach refugees from the time of the Troubles in their exile in Outworld (most notably: Finglor's own father Larlandor, who is believed to be martyred by the majority of the Elves, but most likely excluding his son, well aware of the real events of the civil war). It's an important part of the plot in Shattered Embrace DLC.
History
Although Finglor's Gate was apparently built with King Talinor's initial blessing (since he also wanted to contact his former foes), it was never finished. All works on it were severed by Finglor's disappearance (probably linked to his discoveries about the Troubles war, and his possible recruitment by the Silver Dawn). However, the Gate later proves to be functional enough to allow the link with the Gate of Teramon in Outworld, ultimately providing the refugees with the means of returning to Arveran.
In-game
The Gate can be seen from the start in the Tower of Baramir, and is mentioned in the initial talk with Casbrim (although he claims he doesn't know it's purpose, Shagir later admitts that the Chancellor was lying to protect a state secret). It is used by Dar Pha (on Talinor's order) in the game's finale to bring Teramon and Gorana to the Palace (as well as other characters) alongside soldiers that battle the supporters of Arbellen (at the background of the final duel).
Trivia
- The Gate was initially paired with newly constructed, yet unfinished Finglor's Orb (thus replicating the pairing of three ancient Gates with three ancient Travelling Orbs), but it could be operated by any Orb. Dar Pha opens it with the Orb of Lorren in the finale.
- After finishing the game, the Hero can talk to three magic-oriented characters chatting near the Gate and complimenting it's design (Orias, Larlandor and Ghortarius); it also remains operational, allowing to travel freely to Outworld and back.
