Template:Character TW2 Smart Mat is a common criminal that starts a conversation with you once you have accepted the Desertgate quest. He will ask for 500 auras for a forged writ of protection. However, it is advised that you do not give him the money. If you do, he will proceed to go inside a house near the Bayan teleport and make good on his escape.
