Giant insects are no newcomers to Antaloor. Giant spiders, ants, wasps and trachidis have been roaming the land for a while. Almost nothing is known about Giant Ants apart from their clear insect ancestry and generally engorged, mutated size. It's likely that those semi-flying (the wings may be vestigial only, allowing for hop-and-land attacks) insects share the territorial and hierarchical dependencies with another member of the genus, Giant Wasps (in which case you can expect some type of Ant queen to fight, and their mound is the only location they'll be actively protecting).
As with all insectoids, bludgeoning and magical damage will probably be most effective.
