Two Worlds: The Temptation was originally conceived as an expansion for the original game and was scheduled to appear in the second quarter of 2008. It was described as featuring new game content, new territories to explore, an enhanced combat system including active blocking, and an entirely new method of transportation. These lofty goals, however, meant that the release date kept getting pushed back until finally the decision was taken to hold off on the release and make this an actual "full on" sequel to the original game.
