Two Worlds is a computer role-playing game developed by Polish video game developer Reality Pump and published by TopWare Interactive and SouthPeak Interactive[1] for the Xbox 360 and PC. A sequel, Two Worlds II was released on January 25, 2011.

Plot

The world changed when Aziraal, the god of war, was slain in the huge battle long ago. The hordes of Orcs lost their divine leader and were forced to withdraw to the southern wastelands. Now, hundreds of years later, the location of Aziraal's tomb is still unknown, well hidden by other gods who did not dare to entrust the secret to mere mortals.

However, now, a fragile peace between the civilized races and the hordes is at stake. When the dwarfish mining expedition discovered an ancient temple dedicated to an unnamed deity - all of the world's most powerful factions saw it as a possible clue to the place of Azriaal's burial ground. A silent war has now begun and it will soon ignite the fires that will lead to the holy crusade of the Orcs. However, the real danger lies somewhere else. A powerful force churns silently - weaving a secret plot of fear and destruction. In the end one of the Two Worlds will remain.

The story of "Two Worlds" begins in an age torn by war. The Orcs have advanced to the south bank of the river Gon and are threatening the Kingdom of Cathalon. While this is happening, the hero, a wandering bounty hunter, is searching for some clue as to the whereabouts of his sister, whom he hasn't seen since her settlement was attacked three years ago. He unexpectedly receives vital information from a mysterious stranger - and immediately joins a Dark Brotherhood (or so it seems). Now the time has come for him to try understanding the game's powerful forces - and to learn how to use them! This is the only way the hero can survive - and get the answers to the questions that are burning in his soul – Who is behind this secretive kidnapping? Will he ever see his sister again? Where is the Tomb of Aziraal - and what role does the mysterious, yet helpful stranger have to play?

Development

Delays

Originally planned for an end of September 2006 release[2], Zuxxez Entertainment allowed the release date to be pushed back to the fourth quarter of 2006 to allow additional development time.[3][4] Two Worlds was pushed back yet again, to allow additional development time and polishing. The game was set to be released in Europe on March 7, 2007.[5] On January 26, 2007 it was announced that Two Worlds would be pushed back one final time to May 9, 2007.[6]

Editions

The standard edition of the game ships with the usual game and manual.

The Collectors Edition features the game, a Tabletop RPG a full World Map and a Bonus CD. The PC edition came with 2 cards featuring codes for bonus items, while the Xbox 360 editions came with a 48 hour trial code for Xbox Live.[7] The bonus codes that each game came with varied by region.[8] The collectors edition was released August 31, 2007.[9][10][11]

Released on August 19, 2008[12], the Epic Edition of Two Worlds comes with the standard game and the add-ons Tainted Blood (DLC) and Curse of Souls*[13]

The Epic Deluxe Edition comes with the Two Worlds Epic Edition and the Digital Deluxe Content.[14]

The Two Worlds Epic Edition complete bundle on Steam comes with the base game, the digital Strategy Guide, soundtrack, and the digital deluxe content.[15]

The Two Worlds Royal Edition premiered in Europe, retailing for 64.99€ at the same time as the standard release. The game featured a Two Worlds branded: T-shirt, deck of playing cards, a double sided poster featuring artwork and the map of Antaloor. Additionally, it came with a Making Of DVD and a Maxi CD. The PC version came with a mini letter opener version of the Kilgorin Sword.[16]

Two Worlds RPG pre-order fan package was a very special early release bundle, limited to 1,000 copies. Announced on December 14, 2006, fans had a limited window to pre-order this version of the game. It featured a metal Sword, Kilgorin Sword of Darkness and a leather organizer (DIN-A5) 2007 - for 109,99€! The sword is the "original edition", 90 cm long, forged by US giants United Cutlery - and is featured in the game as a usable weapon. The organizer contains the complete calendar 2007 and a metal ball pen. The offer was only available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for PC and closed on December 31, 2006. Players who purcased it before the end of the year had the option to receive the collectors edition of the game free, once it released, while the sword and journal would be shipped right away.[17]
