Development of Two Worlds II began as early as 2005[notes 1] as a Two Worlds expansion titled Two Worlds: The Temptation[1]. The Temptation quickly grew much larger than originally intended and became a full-fledged sequel. Developing it as a sequel enabled the developers to expand the narrative even further and a more sophisticated engine titled GRACE™ was created to develop the game. Sometime between March 2009[2] and July 2009[3], the title "The Temptation" was dropped in favor of titling it Two Worlds II, due to the devs feeling that The Temptation would always be associated with expansion.[3] The title was first mentioned as a sequel on November 28, 2007, just six and a half months after the release of Two Worlds.[4]

Delays

It was originally planned for a release on August 8, 2010[5], but was later pushed back to September 14, 2010[6][7], and then October 5, 2010.[8] In an E3 2010 Q&A, Jake DiGennaro said the game was planned to be released in the fall[9]. It was eventually released on November 12, 2010.

Notes

  1. At E3 2010, Jake DiGennaro said the game began development roughly 2 1/2 years prior.
