Dalnir's statue in Shadinar

Dalnir was an ancient Elf, one of the Founders and (supposed) progenitor of Dar Pha (herself of Elven blood, as revealed in Call of the Tenebrae finale). He's an important figure in lore of Shattered Embrace.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In ancient times, Dalnir came into contact with an Orcish warlord Gromsh of Alsorna and a Human archmage named Lorren. They collectively formed the First Triumvirate and established a common state for their followers on the remote island of Arveran. Dalnir's Elves traveled there through a magical Gate and settled in a region known as Sharrean Forest. They built a city of Tar-Dalnir named after their leader, and constructed a Tower for him as a residence. He co-ruled the island as the first Lord Archdruid through the entire Age of Heroes.

Dalnir died during the Tenebrae Invasion, when the attacking Tenebrae sacked his city. He was succeeded by his son Galadir, who decided to abandon Tar-Dalnir and move along with the survivors to Shadinar built at the time jointly with his counterparts, Baramir and Ulzag of the Second Triumvirate. Both Galadir's sons and successors, Larlandor and Talinor, were Dalnir's grandchildren, which in turn makes him grand-grandfather of Finglor and (supposedly) Dar Pha.

In-game[edit | edit source]

Dalnir is long dead by the time of the Hero's visit to Shadinar, but his statue (the only one still standing) can be seen on the Square of the Founders (unlike the ones of his counterparts that were dismantled after the Troubles). His Tower in Tar-Dalnir ruins can also be visited, and three items that once belonged to him (his Traveling Orb, his Seeing Stone and his unique bow called Windmaker) can be collected during the DLC's main quest and side quests.
