Draft:Shattered Embrace:First Triumvirate

The First Triumvirate was the initial ruling body of the Triumvirate of Arveran during the Age of Heroes and is an important part of Shattered Embrace lore. It consisted of the Founders: Lord Lorren as the original Archmage, Lord Gromsh as the initial General, and Lord Dalnir as the first Archdruid. All three fell during the Tenebrae Invasion.

History

The three Lords formed the Triumvirate to jointly rule over the multi-racial state they created, although (unlike their successors) they kept all three populations separated from each other, each living in a different domain. The Humans used to inhabit Karatree Reach, the Orcs lived on the Morrag Peninsula, while the Elves settled under the trees of Sharrean Forest. Thus, under the Founders' reign, the state had three separate capitals of equal rank: Lorrendar, Gromshar and Tar-Dalnir. All three cities were ruined during the Tenebrae Invasion, forcing the sons of the Founders that took over as the Second Triumvirate (i.e. Lord Baramir, Lord Ulzag and Lord Galadir) to build a common home for their decimated populace.

In-game

At the time of the DLC, the Troubles made the Elves suspicious towards other races, which led them to question the glory of the First Triumvirate as a whole, while emphasizing their own. This can be told from the fact that the original monument depicting the initial three Lords (still visible on many paintings) was dismantled, leaving only the statue of Dalnir (the Elven Archmage, as well as the founder of the current royal dynasty). Two toppled statues can still be found on the Island of Broken Statues on Avarien. Three Towers of the Founders, located in their ruined capitals, can also be explored, and various artifacts connected to them (like the Seeing Stones, the Traveling Orbs, or their ancient weapons) can be collected throughout the game.
