Information
Type Magical Gate
Region Sharrean Forest
Additional Details:

The Gate of Dalnir is an ancient transdimensional magical gate in Tar-Dalnir ruins. It's used as a part of plot of Shattered Embrace DLC. Originally, the Gate was paired with the magical Orb of Dalnir.

History[edit | edit source]

The Gate of Dalnir was used by Lord Dalnir at the dawn of the Age of Heroes to transport his Elven settlers to Arveran, so they could colonize Sharrean Forest, their sole dominion on the island at the time (as a part of the Triumvirate). Later, the city of Tar-Dalnir was built around it.

When Tar-Dalnir was destroyed during the Tenebrae Invasion, it was abandoned by the Elves under Lord Galadir. The Gate was unused throughout the Age of Reconstruction.

The Gate was used once more during late Age of Harmony, when the Tower of Dalnir became inhabited again, after Lord Larlandor moved in. The place was stormed by the Human forces during the Troubles, and - according to the Elven version of events - the rebels led by Lord Teramon captured Larlandor. Their goal was to force him to open the Gate of Dalnir nearby, so it could link to the Archmage's own Gate in Outworld, allowing them to escape outside Antaloor.

During this event, the Gate was damaged: it's connection to the Gate of Teramon became permanent (although it closed spontaneously after several weeks, it remained active; just dormant), and only Humans were able to cross it safely ever since, while other travellers (specifically the Elves) were horribly mutilated (a fate shared by the majority of soldiers of the Lost Legion). This effect was named Curse of Teramon by the Elves, since it prevented them from following Teramon's forces.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • When approached in the Teacher's Tower, Lord Larlandor tells the Hero that so-called Curse of Teramon was never intentional, but rather caused by the Orb of Dalnir's malfunction, which was overloaded during the Great Crossing (since it wasn't designed to transport larger groups between dimensions).
