Lord Lorren's abandoned statue

Lord Lorren was an ancient Human archmage from Erimos (or Eollas) and one of the Founders. He's mentioned in lore of Shattered Embrace.

Biography[edit | edit source]

After leaving his homeland, Lorren (alongside Gromsh and Dalnir) founded the Triumvirate on the remote island of Arveran, creating the Gate of Lorren to facilitate the travel for him and his followers. After they settled on Karatree Reach, Lorren became their leader as the Lord Archmage of the First Triumvirate. They built a city of Lorrendar near the Gate, as well as the Tower of Lorren at it's center, as his own seat of power. His reigned from there through the entire Age of Heroes.

During the Tenebrae Invasion, Lorrendar was destroyed by the attacking Tenebrae, who sunk the city by causing the entire area adjacent to the original shoreline of Karatree Reach to fall into the sea, thus forming a body of water later named the Cloudy Bay. Lord Lorren himself died during that battle (as well as Lord Gromsh, who came from Gromshar with his Orcs to his aid). The Tenebrae were eventually repelled, but Lorrendar (since then known as the Sunken City) became inhabitable, and Lord Lorren was succeeded by his son, Lord Baramir, who later decided to move with all the survivors to newly-constructed Shadinar.

In-game[edit | edit source]

Although Lord Lorren is dead long before the events of the DLC, several in-game items and locations still bear his name. His tower's vault can be explored from Freehaven in order obtain his Seeing Stone, his Traveling Orb is crucial to the main plot, and his unique staff can be obtained in one of Bernard's quests.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Lorren's birthplace is stated differently in various sources (as either Eollas or Erimos).
  • Lorren's statue was a part of the original monument that used to stand on the Square of the Founders prior to the Troubles. Although it was dismantled before the Hero's visit (only the statue of Dalnir was left intact), it can still be found outside the city (alongside the one of Gromsh) on the Island of Broken Statues. It depicts Lorren in the robes of Veneficus professor, which suggests Eollas was his homeland (rather than Erimos).
