Talinor is the Elven King of Arveran regarded by Dar Pha's as her real father (making her the Princess), before she left the island and joined the Orcs (hiding her real origins ever since, until she finally reveals the truth in Call of the Tenebrae DLC). He's a major character in Shattered Embrace DLC.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Talinor was born as a younger son of Lord Galadir, a member of the House of Dalnir and the co-ruler of the Triumvirate of Arveran that predated Talinor's future Kingdom. After Galadir died, Talinor's older brother Larlandor took the office, becoming Lord Achdruid of the Penultimate Triumvirate. However, Larlandor resigned soon afterwards (while his counterparts were murdered), which made Talinor next in line. It also meant he was obliged to marry an Elven noble, Lady Phallen, in his brother's place.

After Talinor became Lord Archdruid, a conflict began between him and his peers in the Last Triumvirate. Soon after the wedding, it turned out that Phallen was pregnant, and Dar Pha was born. However, her parentage was questioned by some, eventually leading to a magical trial using the Orb of Dalnir. The ritual confirmed that Dar Pha isn't Talinor's daughter, but rather of the Human Archmage, Lord Teramon, who was Phallen's secret lover prior to the wedding.

This discovery was more than enough to spark distrust between the Humans and the Elves, quickly escalating into a full-scale civil war, known as the Troubles, and the Orcs have joined the Humans against the Elves. During that time, Dar Pha was sent away and went missing (but her real parentage became a state secret, so officially she was still known as Talinor's daughter). Phallen (apparently) committed suicide.

Although struck by grief, Talinor eventually won the civil war, driving two other races out of the island (some of them escaping into Outworld). He remarried soon after that victory, taking Phallen's sister Arbellen as his new bride. She also talked him into abolishing the Triumvirate (as he was the only member of the Last Triumvirate still living of the island, which made the old political formula obsolete). Thus, he proclamed Arveran all-Elven Kingdom, making Arbellen the Queen and taking the entire island under his solitary rule.

In-game[edit | edit source]

Talinor is present during several audiences in Shattered Embrace, but otherwise plays no major role, allowing Arbellen to communicate their common wishes to the Hero (one of them being assisting Shagir in finding Finglor, and later contacting the refugees in Outworld). Talinor's ultimate sacrifice for his supposed daughter comes at the very end of the DLC's main plot.
