DLC Echoes of the Dark Past

The Forbidden Mines is the first of three Adventure Mode quests for the Echoes of the Dark Past DLC for Two Worlds II. The player is tasked by Dr. Lavarius with getting in and out of the Forbidden Mines as quickly as possible while retrieving some old Tenebrae notes before the The Vanderbilts Consortium gets there.

The Forbidden Mines[edit | edit source]

The Vanderbilts; Consortium is dangerously close to finding an old Irenite mine, one that I' am positive was controlled by the Order centuries ago. Fortunately, it isn't the one near the fabled Sixth Temple-location of which is still unknown. Unfortunately, my source tells me that although the Tenebrae temples were burned to the ground during the Purge, their mines were just sealed off to prevent thieves from looting them.

For the reasons I've already given you, the Tenebrae artifacts must not end up in the hands of the Consortium. Luckily they were forced to turn to me to decode the Tenebrae notes, which I did; with the omission of a few key details. In short, I have sent them on a wild-goose chase but they'll soon realize that I was "mistaken" in my translation. If you hurry, you'll have time to explore the site and leave before they arrive.

You must infiltrate the mine and fat. If my assumptions are correct, there will be some invaluable relics left behind: notes, field laboratory equipment, tools... who knows what was left behind during the insanity of the Purge. Gather everything you can find and send them to me but again I must impress upon you the absolute need for both speed and discretion; the Vanderbilts will only be misled for so long, and the teams of mercenaries they've hired are savage.

Bene vale

-Lavarius
I've reached the Mines. There is an air of menace in this place that I've ever quite felt before. The tunnel seems to lead to the main part of the complex. I'd better be quick.
Blast these cursed mines! Full of giant ants and undead slaves. The Irenite crystals seem to have an effect on everything down here. I'd wager that these are the properties the Vanderbilts want to explore for their "business purposes". No telling what's going to be around the next corner....
The undead... perfect. They must be the Tenebrae's slaves, risen from the grave.
You've found the Tenebrae mine's Laboratory.
Examine the equipment on the platform.
I've found the Tenebrae's Laboratory. If the artifacts are anywhere, they'd be here. I should look at the equipment on the platform.
The Laboratory is partially protected by a magical aura, draining the life-force from anyone who gets too close. To deactivate the aura I need to destroy the power source.
I've found the aura's power source. It's a crystal on the plinth in the middle of the room. Damn thing is guarded by a gargantuan Tenebrae golem. As long as the crystal is whole, the Guardian is indestructible.
Destroy the power crystal to enter the laboratory.
As long as the crystal is whole, the Guardian is indestructible.
The crystal has been destroyed. Now I can take down the Tenebrae Guardian and enter the Laboratory.
The Guardian is dead.
The crystal has been destroyed and the Tenebrae Guardian is finished. Now I can enter the Laboratory.
It appears that the power crystal was keeping most of the ants away.
Search the lab quickly before the mine is overrun by the swarm.
It appears that the power source was keeping most of the ant swarm at bay. I have to search the Laboratory - and time is short.
I've found what I was looking for. I have to get out of here while I still can.
