Dark Clouds over Grondvik is the first of four Adventure Mode quests for the Pirates of the Flying Fortress DLC for Two Worlds II. The Cillage of Grondvik is having trouble with a cult in the forest to the north, having already lost 8 scouts. Their leader, Vloran requests that you enter the Phantom Forest to seek out and put a stop to this menace.

Dark Clouds over Grondvik[edit | edit source]

As if life in the middle of ghastly swamps wasn't stressful enough, the village of Grondvik is having one more problem except mosquitos, floods and swamp creatures. The leader of the locals, Vloran, tells you of strange things happening lately in the hills to the east. And of scouts who never came back from their latest reconnaissance mission. The whole community is petrified... and expecting things to get worse. Will you be able to help the tormented community finally find peace? Do you have the courage to explore the swampland...and whatever lies beyond them?

Vloran: Finally! The Gods have answered our prayers, and send you! Our little community is in turmoil. Strange things are happening in the hills to the north, we haven't heard so much as a word from our outpost there in a week==and a delay of more than a day is unheard of. It doesn't bode well. People are afraid... that the great storm has woken the dead. Please, check on that outpost.

The people of Grondvik are afraid that something terrible has awakened in the regions beyond their village's borders. They hear strange noises coming from the forest nearby. What's more, a group of scouts which was supposed to be patrolling the village's perimeter is long overdue. They must be found.

Scout Eirik: You're from Grondvik, aren't you? The villagers there are probably worried about the noises. Well... so are we. I sent a group of scouts to investigate what's going on in Phantom Forest... but none of them have returned, or sent word. Please look for them. There's nothing we can do. We are but simple townsfolk, not soldiers.

Scouts from our outpost are missing. They were supposed to investigate the Phantom Forest, and report back with their findings. They must be found... if there's anything left of them.....
Undead attacks! Protect the scouts, and kill the zombies!

Gordan the Leader: Thank Gods you're here. They'd have eaten us alive! Our leader sent you, right? I knew he won't forget about us. Listen: There's some kind of cult headquartered in the swamps, beyond the forest. Their "god" has taken complete control of his minions' minds, and he's preparing an army of fanatics! If you don't kill them all, their influence will only spread! Please, for the sake of our Families!

One of the scouts report that they've discovered a strange cult in the swamps, on the other side of the forest. They have the ability to raise the dead from their graves, and the cult's influence is feared said to be rapidly spreading, like a plague. If no one stops them, the village of Grondvik's fate is sealed.
Village's leader Vloran, wants to talk to you. He's waiting near the Golem's lair.

Vloran: So that was it - as if there aren't enough actual crawling, flying, creeping Monsters... we have to deal with the next-worst thing, in groups of deranged people. I come near to despair, sometimes... I really do... still, I supposed it beats an actual Demon. Thank you so much for your brave and kind help. Our small community owes you a lot. You're always welcome here.

Vloran is thankful for saving him, and his village. Life here isn't easy, and who knows what would have happened if it wasn't for you. Grondvik's community can finally work and progress in peace.

  • Vespine buzzing may play even after they've all been killed in certain locations.
  • In the final battle, zombies named "Zombie_08" will be summoned that look nothing like the others.
  • At the end of the mission, the player will be unable to speak to Vloran a second time. When attempting to speak to him, the player will be pushed back.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Despite the dialogue claiming the troubles are to the north, the map is oriented in a way that makes it appear to be from the east.
